You started your show talking about your new book and read couple of pages from it.
I heard the first half an hour and I was through and through. because;
a) don't like fiction in general, (because it was yours I gave it a chance to do exception)
b) don't like the title and the topic for reasons you might not guess,
c) was disappointed that you created an ethnic Russian character to start with,
d) while reading from the book you were asking for confirmation from listeners, claiming that the places and names are thoroughly researched. ???
I have Qs for your claim;
1) Who did the research? The ghostwriter?  
2) Who is your consultant on Russia? You don't speak Russian, you're not interested to find out what's going on there right now, which is a global urgent news, you don't know the culture, the geography, the history, etc.

Since when and why during your creative process you ran out of any other alternative, that you're personally more connected to, such as American, Jewish, Irish, Italian, but picked on idea of creating a fictional character, which is ethnically Russian?

I know what you'll say in response; "It's a fiction book and I can create any character I want!"
You're right. And, I don't need to like it, buy it or read it and I'm right too!

I just feel that this particular book is going to give you more problems that you already have.
It can create wrong perceptions, which can bring bad consequences not only to you.
